Issue
Given the size of the operation and the mobile nature of maintenance personnel in general a system that allows engineering personnel to access the maintenance system would provide productivity gains for the department. This can be achieved in a number of ways.
- Laptops or Tough books can use Database Replication.
- Handhelds can be used using GPS connectivity to access the system live.

Apart from the reduction of paper and the environmental impact, a paperless maintenance system provides productivity gains in terms of both the ability to access the maintenance system and the facility to view the historical issues with a piece of equipment. In addition the system would allow personnel to view information relating to the status of tools, current location and ownership. The system could be designed to allow field personnel to update the locations for tooling/assets along with the condition of assets.
Maintenance personnel are freed up to carry out essential maintenance while at the same time capturing valuable information where the work is carried out.

The PEMAC Handheld solution allows you to replicate key functionality from the PEMAC Maintenance system. The solution includes
- Add/Edit Asset Information
- View outstanding Work Orders
- Close off Work Orders
- Display History related to an Asset.
In addition bar-coding could be used for asset identification purposes as well as providing a quick and easy way to access equipment history, current status and outstanding work.
The overall system allows you to create, close off and view maintenance activities from remote locations within the plant. Data entry is reduced and valuable information is collected at the point where the work has occurred.
